Sanitation - Barbourmeade Ky

Sanitation Services Update:

As of August 1, 2026, Waste Management has assumed sanitation services for the City. If you have not yet received both Waste Management trash (green lid) & recycling (yellow lid) carts, reach out to the Barbourmeade Commission. 

Key Dates:

  • July 27, 2026 – Rumpke’s final day of service.
  • August 3, 2026 – Waste Management’s first day of service. All trash, recycling, and yard waste services will remain the same. 

If you still have a Rumpke cart that was not removed or experience any service issues, please reach out to the Barbourmeade Commission.

Garbage Collection

  • Garbage will be collected every Monday morning at the curb.
  • A 96 gallon all green rolling cart with a green lid is provided for your convenience.
  • Please do not set cans out before Sunday afternoon and promptly remove them from the curb as soon as possible after pick-up.
  • Please use the provided lids as to avoid items being blown out of the container on days with inclement weather.

The City of Barbourmeade has made provisions for those residents who are unable to take their garbage to the curb due to physical limitations. Please feel free to contact the Barbourmeade Sanitation Commissioner for more information.

Yard Waste Collection

  • Yard waste pick-up is provided every Monday year-round.
  • Please place yard waste in cans, bags or other appropriate containers marked “Yard Waste.”
  • Limbs should be no longer than 4 feet in length, tied with twine and placed at the curb.

Recycling Collection

  • The recycling calendar is available here.
  • Recycling pick-up is provided at the curb every other Monday.
  • A rolling cart with a yellow lid is provided for your convenience.

Bulk Item Pickup

  • Waste Management offers bulk and heavy item collection upon request.
  • To schedule service, call WM at (502) 966‑0117 to confirm the pickup date, eligible items, and any required plastic wrapping.
  • Do not leave items at the curb for more than 24 hours.
  • Contact the Barbourmeade Sanitation Commissioner with any questions.

Extra trash, yard waste, and recycling carts can be leased at the residents’ expense from Waste Management. To order, contact Waste Management at (502) 966-0117.

Christmas trees will be picked up, along with yard waste, on December 28th and January 4th.
